How to value a mobile app before buying it
The most common valuation method for mobile apps is a multiple of monthly net profit. Small utility apps typically sell for 12–24× monthly profit, while subscription apps with low churn can reach 30–40×.
Beyond the headline multiple, look at revenue quality. Subscription revenue with 12-month retention above 30% is worth far more per dollar than interstitial ad revenue that depends on a single ad network.
Check organic vs. paid acquisition. An app that grows organically through app-store search keeps growing after the previous owner walks away. An app fueled by paid campaigns transfers the marketing risk to you.
Finally, always verify metrics against source-of-truth reports: App Store Connect, Google Play Console and ad-network dashboards. On our marketplace this verification is part of every listing review.
